Academy Opens:
Welcome to the Next Chapter:
The QSO Today Academy
Once upon a time, during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, we introduced the QSO Today Virtual Ham Expo. Six fantastic Expos later, it's time for a shift. A shift towards learning, innovation, and connection in the world of amateur radio. Welcome to the QSO Today Academy!
Mark your calendars for our first event on September 9th and 10th, 2023, where our journey towards a new era of amateur radio exploration begins.
So, you might be asking:
How is the QSO Today Academy different from the QSO Today Virtual Ham Expo?
Well, let's rewind a bit. Back in August 2020, we envisioned the Virtual Ham Expo as a virtual substitute for a full-fledged amateur radio convention, complete with a bustling convention center, vendor booths, and an area for presentations on all things ham radio. However, what we found over six Expos and multiple experiments with virtual hosting technologies, was that our presentation strength shone through. Our Expo presentations were top-notch, offering an immense variety for a weekend conference, but the need for vendor exhibitor space faded as most ham radio vendors leaned more towards traditional "brick and mortar" styles.
In light of this, the Academy will zero in on enhancing these amateur radio presentations. We will use our sequel.io presentation rooms, equipped with the capacity to broadcast high-quality presentations to large audiences. These rooms also allow for audience participation, live Q&A sessions, and offer immediate playback of all recorded content.
While we're saying goodbye to the convention center and exhibitor hall, we'll be saying hello to a new form of vendor participation. Vendors will be invited to deliver presentations, engage in live forums, and conduct user meetings during Academy weekends. This will be complemented by roundtable discussions for any follow-up questions and answers.
Attention Amateur Radio Clubs!
The Academy offers a unique chance to promote your club. You'll have the opportunity to showcase a video commercial about your club and its activities, as well as host a virtual round-table to interact with members and prospective members.
Our QSO Today Listener Sponsors will automatically become Academy members and will have exclusive access to Academy content even after events have concluded. Our goal is to create and share fresh presentations more regularly than just twice a year.
All recorded presentations will be accessible to Academy members after they air. Any earlier expo content, which was not previously published, will also be made available to members.
Ready to join the QSO Today Academy? Tickets for our inaugural Academy weekend will soon be up for grabs, and will grant you access for 30 days following the event. Welcome aboard as we voyage into this exciting new phase of the QSO Today experience!
